One of the most common questions we hear is: what happens when I want fresh air?
With standard secondary glazing, the answer is to remove the panel entirely. InGlaze Opening Pane changes that. A discreet living hinge runs along one edge of the panel, allowing it to swing open for ventilation and click back into place when you’re done — without removing anything, and without any tools.
It is available as an add-on to any Whole Pane secondary glazing order, at £15 per pane.
How it works
The Opening Pane uses a flexible living hinge integrated into the panel during manufacture. The hinge is low-profile and barely visible once the panel is fitted. To open, you simply lift the panel from one side — it pivots smoothly and clips to stay open. To close, press it back into the seal and it locks into place, restoring the airtight fit.
There is no separate mechanism, no latch to operate, and nothing to maintain.
When to choose Opening Pane
Opening Pane is worth considering for any room where you want to retain ventilation without the inconvenience of fully removing a panel. It is particularly useful in kitchens and bathrooms where moisture control matters, bedrooms where overnight ventilation is a priority, and any room where the window is used regularly for fresh air during warmer months.
It is compatible with all window shapes and sizes available in the Whole Pane range, including non-standard dimensions common in traditional Scottish properties.

Opening Pane is available as an add-on to Whole Pane secondary glazing orders at £15 per pane. It is not available as a standalone product or as an addition to Push-In Panes.
