It started with a draughty window in Singapore
The story behind InGlaze.
“We were living in a beautiful old 1930s house in Singapore — full of character, but some of the rooms had windows with no glazing at all, only shutters! We rigged up a temporary fix with acrylic sheets just stop the heat and allow us to have air conditioning. It worked surprisingly well. A few years later, back in Aberdeen, staring at our own draughty sash windows, we thought: why hasn’t anyone made this properly?”
That DIY fix in Singapore became the seed of InGlaze — a properly engineered, scientifically tested secondary glazing system designed specifically for Scotland’s old buildings.
We’re Luci and Campbell Carey, an Aberdeen-based husband and wife team. Campbell brings years of hands-on experience managing historic buildings — he knows first-hand what old windows cost to heat and how difficult they can be to improve without causing damage. Luci brings rigour and research from her role as a Lecturer in Commercial Law at the University of Aberdeen. Between us, we’ve approached the problem from every angle: practical, scientific, and legal.
We didn’t want to just make something that felt good — we wanted to prove it worked
So we did. InGlaze has been independently tested by the University of Salford — home of the UK’s leading building performance research centre — and the results speak for themselves. Our system reduces heat loss through a window by up to 50%. Not marketing claims. Measured science.
Every InGlaze panel is made by us in Scotland, from recycled and recyclable materials. Each one is bespoke to your window — cut and fitted to the exact dimensions of your frame, with a specially engineered seal that adapts even to uneven or irregular surfaces. It’s approved for use in listed buildings and conservation areas.
Why it matters to us
Scotland has more listed and historic buildings per capita than almost anywhere in the world. Thousands of them are cold, draughty, and expensive to heat — not because their owners don’t care, but because the options available to them are either ugly, invasive, or simply not permitted. We built InGlaze to change that.
We’re proud to be a small, independent Scottish business. We’re not a catalogue brand or a franchised installer — when you get in touch, you’re talking to us.
InGlaze started with a problem we had ourselves. If you’ve got draughty windows and you’re not sure where to start, just reach out. We get it. We’re happy to talk it through with no obligation, and no sales pitch
